Edwards, according to many of his childhood friends, has a long history of embellishment, from claiming a role in a hit movie to boasting that he was a semipro hockey player.
When Paul Edwards was growing up in Newton, his friends recall, he returned home from his 1974 summer vacation on Martha's Vineyard to tell them that he had been cast that summer as one of the shark's victims in the filming of ''Jaws.'' The hit film opened a year later - without Edwards.

Paul R. Edwards, 35, of Winchendon, who in August filed suit claiming he had been molested by Foster and the late Rev. William J. Cummings in the 1980s, was labeled a false accuser after Foster's supporters said Edwards had a long history of fabrication.
Edwards said his lawyer abandoned the case because shortly after the suit was filed, Edwards checked himself into a mental health institution for post-traumatic stress disorder.
Edwards withdrew the suit with prejudice, meaning that he cannot bring up the claim again, though the church probe continued when Edwards brought his complaint to the archdiocese in person.

 Is G.E. an Apostle?
Call it coincidence, but before Edwards teaches his disciples to pray, before he exhorts them to try to be holy, before he does almost anything the apostles in the New Testament did with their converts, very early on in the start of his churches Edwards puts it upon his disciples to make financial contributions.
Edwards says "There will be no specially trained men left behind who have to make sure she [i.e., these churches] survives." Yet, he is even now making sure that, when he dies, there will be two or three men who will be able to take over the oversight of his churches.
Paul did not have to be personally acquainted with the saints in Rome to anticipate that his letter to them would be revered; and the fact that his letter was copied and circulated among the churches throughout the world is proof of how well respected his letter was.

Edwards’ credibility, which was the only issue raised in Foster’s defense, is no longer in question, but the Archdiocese continues to insist, without providing any justification, that the Foster case is closed.
While the fact that Edwards took sign language courses has been documented, it’s still not clear where you got the idea that Edwards had feigned deafness or why you imagine that this assertion is relevant to an evaluation of the credibility of his allegations.
To support the contention that Edwards had pretended to be deaf, you quoted the meandering musings of Deborah Bennett, a woman whom Edwards had rejected when they were both in their teens.

 PEA Soup: Paul Edwards 1923-2004
Edwards was known mostly for being the editor of The Encyclopedia of Philosophy.
In the book, Edwards argued that ethical predicates like 'good', 'right', and 'ought' (almost always) have two important functions: to describe something as having a certain property or properties, and to express the speaker's pro- or con-attitudes; hence, ethical predicates (almost always) have both descriptive and emotive meaning.
Also, like Stevenson and Hare, Edwards argued that the descriptive meanings of ethical terms is speaker-relative, that is, is relative to a speaker's reasons for issuing the moral judgment and, hence, differs on each occasion of their use.

Reincarnation: A Critial Examination by Paul Edwards; Book Review (Skeptical Inquirer January 1999)
Paul Edwards has risked this fate once again, this time by critically examining certain doctrines, once confined largely to Hindu and Buddhist believers, that have recently gained popularity among the eclectic disciples of New Age spirituality.
Edwards proceeds with his usual precision to expose the hidden assumptions, the empirical flaws, and the often unpalatable implications of these teachings that, on the surface, can seem quite appealing.
Edwards shows that the empirical evidence, like the supporting arguments put forth by past-life explorers such as Elizabeth Kübler-Ross, Stanislav Grof, Raymond Moody, and Ian Stevenson are far less compelling than the tabloid headlines would have you believe.
