Paul McStay MBE (born 22 October 1964, in Hamilton) is a former football player who spent his entire career with Scottish team Celtic F.C. He signed for Celtic aged seventeen from Celtic Boys Club and was given the role of captain of the club in 1990.
Although the second half of his career was a time when Celtic were in turmoil and were overshadowed by rivals Rangers, in 2002 he was voted one of Celtic's greatest ever team by the club's fans.
His great-uncle, Jimmy McStay, was a former Celtic captain, and his brothers Willie (currently the club's Youth Coach) and Raymond also played for Celtic.

When I was young I wanted to be Paul McStay.
He epitomised what a Celtic player should be - skillful, brave, willing to die for the jersey and on top of it all he was a decent, modest guy.
Don't get me wrong I still thought that McStay was the best player of the two but it was no longer events on the park that I wanted to emulate.
