In 1976, Paul starred as Harry Houdini in the TV film "The Great Houdini." He continued working in TV after "Starsky and Hutch's" cancellation in 1979, starring in the TV movies "Princess Daisy," "Wait Till your Mother Comes Home!" and "Single Bars, Single Women." But after 1984's "Attack on Fear," Paul stopped acting.
In 1981, when she was nine months pregnant, Paul's wife of one year, Elizabeth, began bleeding and was rushed to the hospital, where she received a blood transfusion.
