Paul Weel has yet to claim a podium finish in V8 Supercar action, and the PWR Racing driver has his sights set on claiming that maiden podium on the biggest stage of them all – the Bob Jane T-Marts Bathurst 1000 this weekend at the famous Mount Panorama circuit.
Weel, who will again share the #50 Holden Commodore with championship contender Jason Bright, believes the pair should not be counted out when people are looking for a race winner.
Weel's best Bathurst result was eighth back in 1999, and he has finished a round in podium position only once before, at the 2003 Clipsal 500.

Weel may be the real deal - Motorsport - www.theage.com.au
The 25-year-old is rarely mentioned in pre-race calculations as a likely frontrunner, but his drive in the Adelaide 500 showed that after six seasons he had made the sort of improvement that could have him pushing for regular top-10 finishes.
But after Weel's fifth and fourth place finishes in Adelaide, rivals may be revising their view of the Geelong-born, Gold Coast-based racer.
His performances were good enough to earn him third place overall for the weekend, although because of the judging system used by the Adelaide organisers he did not figure on the podium - that is an honour afforded to the first three finishers at the end of the second 250-kilometre race.
