Lauri is one of the main song writers and has also worked on various collaborations with fellow Finns Apocalyptica and Ville Valo from the love metal band, HIM.
He was born Pauli Esko Antero Rantasalmi on May 1, 1979 in Helsinki.
Pauli also owns a studio called the grotto, and runs a record label called "Dynasty Recordings" which both Kwan and Vonhertzenbrothers are signed to.
PauliRantasalmi, who has again for a change increased shaggy curlies, stares a humorous kung fu-movie from a gigantic wall-TV in the Dynasty-studio in Helsinki.
Pauli shows quickly Little Note's binding from his laptop and thinks half aloud, that the hole in the middle of a collage made from Kwan's musicians ("the musicians' common/shared ass") must be taken out from the final version.
Rantasalmi answers in Kwan's situation for almost all the music and also in The Rasmus is his contribution extremely remarkable.
Pauli Esko Antero Rantasalmi is a Finnish guitar player and music producer, the site tells us, and creates an image of a middle-aged man who plays Landola, and every now and then produces a little, you know, golspel type of material for the bonfire.
Pauli met Lauri and Eero Heinonen when they were on their third grade.
Pauli doesn't want to be a high and mighty star maker, but a shepherd that looks after his own.
It was originally made up of Janne Heinskanen [bass], Eero Heinonen [vocals], PauliRantasalmi [guitar] and Lauri Ylönen [drums] - all born in 1979.
As an additional point of interest, Pauli won the EMMA for Finnish Producer of the Year in 2001 and Lauri has been voted the 96th Greatest Finn of all time in a national Finnish poll (Ville Valo came 13th, Tarja Halonen ie.
Killer is co-managed and co-produced by The Rasmus's Lauri and Pauli and Pauli has also worked on the production side for Kwan and on 'Chillin At The Grotto'.

: Pauli started to play at the age of 5; his first instrument was a Finnish ‘Zither’.
He is a recognized producer and has created number one hits for other Finnish bands like Killer and Kwan.
Aki joined the The Rasmus 1999 after Janne left the band.(Janne left The Rasmus because he wanted to take a break and move to Thailand) He was one of the merchandise guys gigs of The Rasmus and Pauli asked him if he would join them.

The Rasmus U.S. - Biography(Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-22)
The Rasmus first came together as a band in 1994, the actual founder as so to be said is there original drummer Janne Heiskanen.
Lauri and Eero had been friends at school and they both met Pauli in the early 90’s.
Aki said in an interview, “Pauli had asked me to join the band after we had jammed together, which was great because I pretty much suck at everything else but playing drums.” And around this same time the band changed their name from Rasmus to The Rasmus due to some confusion with a Swedish DJ.
It has been released in two editions, an enhanced version which also contains the track Dancer in the Dark and the regular edition (although the UK version of the regular edition has a song named Open My Eyes as a bonus track).
This is the third album that Lauri Ylönen on vocals, Eero Heinonen on bass, PauliRantasalmi on guitar and Aki Hakala on drums have released in their current incarnation as The Rasmus (the original Rasmus band line up featured drummer Janne Heiskanen who was later replaced by Hakala) and the second to be released internationally.
The CD opens with Shot, a track that is highly reminiscent of their major hit In The Shadows, although the general sound is rather heavier and Ylönen's voice appears to have acquired a slightly husky quality.
