Pauline's character design was updated for this game, with the primary change being the change of her hair color from blonde to brunette in order to distinguish her from the more popular Peach.
Pauline's next appearance would not be for another twelve years with the release of the 2006's Nintendo DS game, Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis.
The character was portrayed by actress Dana Kaminski.

Pauline didn't last long as a character and was soon replaced by new damsel in distress Princess Peach in Super Mario Bros. (She was initially referred to as Princess Toadstool in the US.

In Nintendo's E3 press conference it was stated that you could use the controller "to bat away objects" and game footage seemed to show a spinning jump that reflected attacks.

Pauline (formerly known as Lady in Japan) is a fictional character in the Nintendo
Pauline's original name in Japan was "Lady", but this was changed when the game was brought to North America, where she was renamed Pauline in merchandises and home versions of the game.

I think Pauline is the New hidden character in Marip Party 8, and im hoping its her.
She had a chance, but Nintendo rarely used her, so she should just be a forgotten character.
Pauline would have no place in the series now that Peach holds her place.

Back before Nintendo was making millions of billions of dollars with their mega popular home consoles like the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) they were only in the software business and in 1981 they had one of the biggest arcade hits of its day.
You can then save Pauline by removing the 6 spikes of the second level structure (originally there were 8 in the arcade) and then the game just continues to repeat itself so you can still go for the high score at least.
Mario looks nothing the original character you know and love plus Pauline is a boring flat shade of the pink or blue and she doesn't even have any animations.
