The town of Pavlovsk which is famous for its palace and park ensemble is located 26 kilometers to the south of Saint Petersburg.
It was founded in 1777, at the time when empress Catherine II granted her son, Grand Prince Pavel Petrovich, court hunting grounds situated on the bank of the Slavyanka river.
One of the remarkable architectural sights of Pavlovsk is the Temple of Friendship the flat dome of which rests on 60 columns.

 Pavlovsk
Pavlovsk is another of St. Petersburg's historical Imperial estates and lies just 29 kilometers from the city and very close to the estate at Tsarskoye Selo.
Located along the picturesque valley of the Slavyanka River, the extensive park is dotted with small pavilions and architectural follies, including the Temple of Friendship, the Colonnade of Apollo, the pavilion of the Three Graces, the Dairy Farm and the Rose Pavilion.
After Paul I was murdered during a coup d'etat, Pavlovsk was left under the supervision of the dowager Empress Maria Fedorovna.

 Pavlovsk: Environmental Inspectorate launches administrative proceedings
The Pavlovsk, which flies the Georgian flag, has been included on the B-list of ships found to be involved in illegal, undeclared and unregulated fishing by the North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC).
The Ministry of the Environment has learned that the fishing vessel may have a technical fault which is preventing the ship from leaving port immediately.
Employees of the Environmental Inspectorate and the Estonian Maritime Administration boarded the vessel yesterday and the Ministry of the Environment is currently awaiting the results of the checks carried out by the Maritime Administration regarding the technical condition of the Pavlovsk.

Pavlovsk contains English gardens, villas, mansions, a palace (1782–86) in the Russian classical style, several park pavilions (1780–83), the Pil tower (1795–97), and the mausoleum of Paul I (early 19th cent.).

The Palace was begun in 1782 and was built for the future Emperor Paul I. It is set in a beautiful park designed by some of the foremost landscape architects and designers of the day.
