Pax Romana - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pax Romana (27 BCE-180 CE), Latin for "the Roman peace", is the long period of relative peace experienced by the Roman Empire.
Nonetheless, the Pax Romana was an era of relative tranquility, in which Rome endured neither major civil wars, such as the perpetual bloodshed of the first century BCE, nor serious invasions, such as those of the Second Punic War three centuries prior.
The Ara Pacis, or "Altar of peace" was erected for Augustus at the expense of the Roman Senate to celebrate the era of 'Augustan' peace.

City States: Stone to Steel (previously Pax Romana)
Pax Romana is intended to be the first evolution simulation ever, allowing the player, becoming the head of a Late Mesolithic period tribe, to take his tribe through the history to, finally, forge a Nation.
Pax Romana allows this even better than any game, since nothing prevents the player to take the same path every time he plays and there are much more things than in any other game to choose from, when working on the strategy, thus, there are much better possibilities for such perfectionists.
Pax Romana could change their opinion of the real time games, as all the time needed to train soldiers, build fortifications, invent key technologies and winning battles was calculated to leave enough time to prepare and plan.

Pax Romana was not peace all the time everywhere as the following illustrates.
The Pax Romana was not totally peaceful, but Rome itself was largely safe and orderly even though the question of succession rose again and again.
Pax Romana happened in spite of human nature, not because of any particular traits of character or temperament of the Romans.

Pax Romana for PC Review - PC Pax Romana Review
In an attempt to capture these dual challenges, Pax Romana ambitiously aims to combine the sort of strategic conquest common to many games with a detailed modeling of the Roman republic's inner political workings.
But with Pax Romana's modeling of internal politics, just because you could theoretically make the moves to lead Rome to glory doesn't mean that you yourself will actually call the shots.
Indeed, the fiercest fight in Pax Romana is that between you and the interface.

Pax Romana could have been the strategy game of the year; it could have even beat out the mighty Rise of Nations if it had used modern graphics and a menu system that took less than 3 hours just to get by playing.
All Pax shows you of the battle is two sad little sprites in a square-inch box swinging swords at each other.

After their games are released, we often hear developers state that this feature or that got iced because it "got in the way of the fun." Sometimes it's an excuse, but many times it's because the designers are smart enough to recognize the difference between fun and homework.
Where Pax Romana goes boldly wrong is its thorny political game, grafted lovingly onto the strategic system, but so deeply inexplicable at times that establishing a firm command of the mechanics feels like cramming for the MCAT with Cliff Notes.
If there's a lesson to be learned from Pax Romana, it's this: give us all the finger-licking detail you can pack in, but don't ruin it with a poorly conceived interface.

Pax Romana is a new game that attempts to simulate the glory, intrigue, and conquests of Rome, and places you in the position of leader of the mighty power known as Rome.
Pax Romana is the latest effort from Galilea Multimedia, and the game's designer also worked on the popular Europa Universalis, so this game is vaguely similar to that system.
If you are a big fan of extremely complex strategic games, Pax Romana is worth getting, but the average gamer with a passing interest in this era should pass on this one, as it is just a bit of an over-reach by the game designer.
