Zamboanga del Sur is a province of the Philippines located in the Zamboanga Peninsula region in Mindanao.
Its capital is Ipil[?] and it borders Zamboanga del Norte to the north, Zamboanga del Sur to the east and Zamboanga City to the southwest.
Zamboanga Sibugay is the newest province in the Philippines, created in 2001, when the third district of Zamboanga del Sur split off.

ZAMBOANGA CITY-The men who killed Moises Araham, mayor of Payao town, Zamboanga Sibugay province belong to the former Muslims separatist Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), Southern Command Chief Lieutenant General Roy Kyamko said Friday.
He pointed out that while the MNLF signed a peace agreement with the government in 1996, some of its members, particularly in Western Mindanao in the Southern Philippines, continued to hold on to their firearms.
Zamboanga Sibugay police chief Raul Gomez, told the Inquirer that Araham's group was moving towards two pump boats to check on the activities of the passengers in the boats when they were fired upon.

Jimlani, alias "Abu Usman," was captured in a house in Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay, 800 kilometers (497 miles) south of Manila, Candado said.
Jimlani was wanted in connection with the kidnapping of 20 people from the Dos Palmas resort off Palawan in May 2001 and a 1995 rebel assault on Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
