	Peace River, Alberta - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Peace River is a town in southwestern Alberta, Canada, on the Peace River, at its confluence with the Smoky and Heart Rivers.
		It is located 486 km northwest of Edmonton, Alberta, and 2 km northeast of Grande Prairie, Alberta.
		The original part of the town lies on a flood plain in the Peace River valley, while it has also expanded to areas on higher ground, mostly to the west of the town.

		BC Hydro, which has a degree of control over the flow of the Peace River, was accused by owners, during the meeting last week, of causing the rise of water level through its exploitation of the dam that generates power for its grid.
		Mahabir revealed that increases in the flow of the river have been artificially caused to remove the slush beneath the icy surface that is believed to block the flow of river water.
		Alberta Environment representatives did not comment this at last week’s meeting, but their full report on this disaster will be awaited impatiently by the local residents.

		The Peace River Centennial Museum and Archives was founded by the Sir Alexander Mackenzie Historical Society in 1967 as a centennial project.
