Quotes from Past Participants   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-07)
Peace cannot be defined negatively as the mere absence of war or violence.
Peace is an overall concept based essentially and necessarily on an order of justice, without which true peace has no existence and there is only a circumstantial and momentary absence of war.
Lasting peace and hence stability could be attained only in the context of a healthy world order assuring the ways and means for appropriately dealing with any problems or crises that may arise within the international community.

Asia Times: Moscow on new Middle East mission
MOSCOW - Despite the traditional support given to its Cold War era Arab allies, in particular to the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, Russia has been cautious in seeking to reassert its role as a mediator in the Middle East peace process.
Moscow urged Arafat to exercise caution in proclaiming a Palestinian statehood - expected in September regardless of a final peace deal with Israel.
On the other hand, Russia, which is a co-sponsor of the peace process along with the United States, seems determined to restore ties with its traditional Arab allies, listed as "rogue states" by the US administration because of their alleged backing of international terrorism.
