In 1966 Dublins' Westland Row railway station was renamed Pearse Station in his honour.
William Pearse (1881 - May 4, 1916) was an Irish nationalist and younger brother of Padraig Pearse.
On May 3 William Pearse was granted permission to visit his brother in Kilmainham Jail, to see him for the final time.

Pearse Station, located on Westland Row in the Southside in Dublin is a DART and Intercity railway station owned by Coras Iompair Eireann.
It is the only one of Dublin's three terminal stations which has not or is not the subject of a recent major upgrade project, the others being Connolly and Heuston on the west of the city.
The station was extended and rebuilt in the latter part of the 19th century when the present overall roof was installed.

 Archiseek - kerbstones on Pearse St.
I quickly passed some of the work to widen the footpaths on Pearse St. a week or so ago and noticed that the granite kerbstones from the original path were gone or buried under the new concrete path.
As for Pearse St: Agree with Graham and also observed the lifting of the original paving whihc seemed to have been done with restoration in mind.
A repaving scheme for Pearse St was put on show last year at CC as part of the planned QBC along here.

To exit the station when on the southbound platform you have to get a key which means waiting until someone comes and asking them to notify one of the staff in the station on the northbound side to open the gate.
While Seapoint Station is partly accessible, you wouldn't bring a wheelbarrow down the ramps, let alone a wheelchair.
