Axion - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Axion theories further suggest that axions were created abundantly during the big bang.
Hence they are nearly invisible to ordinary matter, and cannot be excluded on the basis of current measurements, though they have never been observed.
Hence axion theories predict that the universe is filled with a very cold

 Category:Theoretical physics - Wikipedia
Theoretical physics attempts to understand the world by making a model of reality, used for rationalizing, explaining, predicting physical phenomena through a " physical theory ".
There are three types of theories in physics; mainstream theories, proposed theories and fringe theories.

Suggested a possible near symmetry of the universe (now known as Peccei- Quinn symmetry) to explain how strong interactions can maintain the symmetry between particles and antiparticles (CP symmetry) when weak interactions do not, with Roberto Peccei.
First paper to discuss how the strong, weak, and electromagnetic coupling constants can merge to a single coupling constant in a grand unified theory, with Howard Georgi and Steven Weinberg.

These fields are massless at high energies, but it is known since long that the axion is stabilized in an instanton dominated vacuum.

Citebase - Relaxation mechanisms: From Damour-Polyakov to Peccei-Quinn
The ralaxation mechanism of Damour-Polyakov for fixing the vacuum expectation value of certain scalar fields (moduli) in string theory could provide a convenient framework for the Peccei-Quinn relaxation mechanism and remove the narrow "axion window".

NCA 110.01 - Hoang Ngoc Long and Dang Van Soa: Conversion of photons into...
Axions induced in Peccei-Quinn symmetry [ 1 ] and dilatons, in the Kaluza-Klein theory [ 2 ], commonly have two-photon couplings.
While the Kaluza-Klein approach has always been one of the most intriguing ideas concerning unification of gauge fields with general relativity, it has dwindled because generally one believes that the theory gives no distinctive and testable predictions.
Dilaton [ 4 ] could have arisen in the five-dimensional Kaluza-Klein theory.

After recalling the general features of dualities in both Superstring theory and Supergravity, we introduce the solvable Lie algebra formalism as an alternative description of the scalar manifold in a broad class of supergravity theories.
Using solvable Lie algebras for instance we find a general mechanism for spontaneous N=2 to N=1 local supersymmetry breaking.
