Zembla: a pedophile and a pedagogue in conversation
Pedagogue: I would not have thought one would be so open and brazen about such an ignoble pursuit.
Pedagogue: Oh no. You see, "pedophile" is derived from the Greek root "paidos", which means "child", and "philia," which is "love of".
Pedagogue: You may have been confused by the Latin ped-, which does refer to the foot.

Professionalization processes and modernization of the pedagogue field as a frame My interest is based on the process of modernization, which the pedagogue field and other areas of human services has been going through during the past 10-15 years and still is undergoing.
It is in the light of this field of conflict, one must regard the modernization of the pedagogue education and the pedagogue practice.
So the paradox in the pedagogue work is that the pedagogues have to be distant and caring at the same time — something that seems impossible but never the less happens all the time, because people have the capability to cope (Weber 2001).

Pedagogue - a slave used in wealthy families to escort boys (age 7-17).
Pedagogue was not an instructor as the translation "schoolmaster" in KJV implies but literally means "boy's leader".
The pedagogue didn't instruct the boy he cared for, but would lead him to school where more qualified teachers would do the work.

The "molecular" pedagogue (that has its genealogy in Foucault's idea of "specific intellectual") is the preferred agent in their reading for teaching both the signs of culture and processes of social change as activities of radical immanence--fluidity, multiplication, subversion and re-invention from "within".
In the dominant terms, the "molecular" is routinely opposed to and privileged over a "molar" Leninist pedagogy, which is founded instead on the need for an intervention from "without", an intervention undertaken on the basis of an "outside" to the very terms of the system in need of transformation.
The "other" of the "molecular" pedagogue is the "molar" teacher--which is Deleuze and Guattari's reading of the Leninist teacher and her teaching.

The Romans adopted the paedagogus or pedagogus towards the end of the republic.
He probably took some part in the instruction of the boys (see ScHooLs).
Under the empire, the pedagogus was specifically the instructor of the boy slaves, who were being trained and educated in the household of the emperor and of the rich nobles and other persons; these boys lived together in a paedagogium, and were known as pueri paedagogiani, a name which has possibly developed into page (q.v.).

The pedagogue is not the fount of wisdom: he is but the pipe--of large or small caliber as the case may be-- through which the wisdom of others flows to fertilize the intellectual fields.
Still the pedagogue may well be proud of his profession, for it is a privilege to think--or even think at--the thoughts of men of genius, to officiate as their messengers to mankind.

Any student may ask any instructor to pedagogue any course, usually a course that s/he has already taken as a regular student, although the instructor will want to work out expectations and duties.

PEDABLOGUE - Essential Definition I: PEDAGOGUE
Since the title of this blog is a pun on "PEDAGOGUE," I thought I better define this term for those reading who don't know what it is. A "pedagogue" -- at bottom -- is simply an "educator." You'd think that would be a good thing, but the term also has negative connotations in some contexts.
Teachers are sometimes labeled "pedagogues" if they're pedantic -- that is, overly strict, close-minded, and self-important.
And the word "pedagogue" comes from Greek Antiquity, where it referred to the slave who led his master's children to school (Hyperdictionary).

Born in New York, George Neikrug was a pupil of the legendary Emanuel Feuermann and is probably the only remaining student who is still concertizing.
In 1943, he met the well-known pedagogue D.C. Dounis, whose revolutionary approach to the problems of string playing and teaching influenced him to completely revamp his playing and create the unique style he has retained to this day.
This association lasted for a period of fifteen years, and Neikrug felt such a debt to Dounis for all the knowledge and skills he had learned that he resolved to devote his life to teaching at schools, such as Boston University, and giving master classes all over the world.
