Amador County is a county located in the Sierra Nevada of the U.S. state of California.
Amador County bills itself as "The Heart of the Mother Lode" and lies with the Gold Country.
The county is named for Jose Maria Amador, soldier, rancher and miner, who was born in San Francisco in 1794, the son of Sergeant Pedro Amador, a Spanish soldier who settled in California in 1771.

Amador (AK-158) was laid down under a Maritime Commission contract (MC hull 2103) on 27 December 1943 at Richmond Calif., by Kaiser Cargo Inc.; launched on 15 June 1944; sponsored by Mrs.
The ship anchored in San Pedro Bay on 22 March and began issuing ammunition to ships of the fleet, as well as reworking defective projectiles and fuses.
On 12 November, Amador got underway for Seattle, Wash. She arrived in Puget Sound on 8 December and remained in that area until 29 March 1946, when she began preparations for deactivation.

Lasuén, accompanied by Sgt. Pedro Amador and five soldiers, dedicated Mission San José at a spot 15 miles to the north of the pueblo which bore the same name and which had been founded by Lieut.
The Mission was sufficiently removed from the pueblo to relieve the attendant friars of the anxiety which afflicted those fathers whose missions were close by other colonial settlements.
Sergeant Amador lead an expedition against the tribe and, after a short battle, returned with over 80 of the runaways and nine additional "pagans" who had been captured in the fight.

The Honduran territory consists mainly of mountains (~81%), but there are narrow plains along the coasts, a large undeveloped lowland jungle La Mosquitia region in the northeast and the heavily populated lowland San Pedro Sula valley in the northwest.
The word is derived from the last name of Honduran General Florencio Xatruch, who led Honduran armed forces in defense of Honduran territories in 1857 against an attempted invasion led by North American filibuster William Walker.

On 23 October, she moved to Guinan roadstead, Samar, and began receiving ammunition from ammunition lighters for transportation back to the United States.

Honduran officials have tentatively identified two more of the 11 bodies discovered last week in a rail car in western Iowa.
A government official said over the weekend that Pedro Amador Lopez and Isidro Avila Bueso, both 38, were among the seven men and four women whose bodies were found inside the car in Denison.
According to news reports quoting a Honduran official, the two were not related.
