First authorized as a New York state park in 1927 on the sesquicentennial of the Battles, the Battlefield was made part of the National Park System in 1938 when Saratoga National Historical Park was authorized by the United States Congress.
The park now comprises three separate units: the 4 square mile Battlefield in Stillwater, New York, the General Philip Schuyler House eight miles north in Schuylerville and the Saratoga Monument in the nearby village of Victory.
The park is located on the upper Hudson River in an area possessing significant natural and cultural attractions appealing to a wide range of visitors from around the world.

Ann Peebles was the big surprise of the weekend, belting out her hits from the early 70s, as well as new compositions, including "I Can't Stand the Rain," which was a bigger hit for Tina Turner and which John Lennon considered one of the greatest soul songs of all time.
Ann Peebles is a major performer deserving of wider recognition.
Peebles is a great performer with a fine voice, and this is a good place to start listening to her music.

The six conservation laboratories that are part of the Peebles Island Resource Center (PIRC)were established in 1974 as a unit within the Bureau of Historic Sites of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP).
WAAC was founded in 1975 to bring together conservators practicing in the western United States to exchange ideas, information and news.
Although WAAC is specifically a regional organization for the western states including Alaska and Hawaii, any individual or institution may become a member regardless of location or national boundary.
