PegasosPPC platform by Genesi is currently shipping with Motorola/Freescale G4 CPUs.
The most interesting thing is that this platform is built with a modular design that permits users to easily upgrade the CPU module with the newest processors once they come out.
PegasosPPC is currently being supported already by many PPC distributions, as YellowDog and Crux.

we drive a ppc related website, we know that we haver users using that AmigaOne PPC and the PegasosPPC.
May be, we can make a call on the site to promote testing for gentoo on the pegasos.

Step #2 is in progress as we progressively bring new applications and potential to the platform.
The hardware abstraction layer of the PegasosPPC is actually what has been integrated into the mainstream Linux kernel and this combined with platform's OF implementation is what will drive this effort into the future.
We left that open for the smart card...;-) We are looking forward to bring this growing collection of titles to OpenSolaris.
