		Pekalongan is a city and regency on the northern coast of Central Java, Indonesia.
		Pekalongan became a part of the empire of the Sultanate of Mataram through treaty and marriage alliances by the early seventeenth century.

		Surabaya, Central Java (ANTARA News) - A mild quake measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale jolted Pekalongan district, Central Java at the early hours of Sunday, but so far no casualty and damaged buildings were reported.
		An expert of the central Meteorology and Geophysics Centre (BMG) Eddy Waluyo confirmed the epicenter of the quake was at 6.88 degree of South Latitude and at 109.80 degree of East Longitude or some 14 kms northeast of Pekalongan.
		Eddy also did not say possible damage and casualty caused by the quake which took place some 242 kms beneath the sea.

		Edi Dasuki, director of the Gotong Royong ethnic Chinese foundation in Pekalongan, told AFP it had been able to do nothing other than report the cases.
