  What is a Peloton?
Peloton is a term used to describe a large group or pack of people in a bicycle road race.
Another advantage to being in the front of the peloton is the fact that a change in the front portion becomes increasingly greater once it reaches the back of the group.
Since the term peloton is used to refer to professional cyclists within a group, the term is also sometimes used as a general term for professional cyclists.

 Peloton- July 2004
The peloton in its simplest form is a group of individual riders with personal and team motives and goals that are assembled together to achieve the goals set for them.
Individual members of the peloton may work to protect their leader from crashes, break away’s (small groups or individuals trying to get a lead on the pack), wind, or other forces that appear during the day’s ride.
When the peloton corners, or descends, the wide body of the flat land peloton shifts to a narrow form like a snake, and it winds its way around and down to the wider and straight roads that allow it to reform into a large wide pack and then refocus on moving the pack forward quickly.

The peloton (from French, literally meaning ball and related to the English word platoon), bunch or pack is the large main group in a road bicycle race.
The peloton travels as an integrated unit, like birds flying in formation, each rider making slight adjustments in response to the riders around them (particularly the one in front of each).
Finally, being at the front of the peloton means dictating the tempo to some degree, and some teams or groups of riders may prefer different speeds as part of their tactics.

Active.com - Conquering peloton position: Learn your way around the pack
Your ability to move through the peloton efficiently plays a significant role in the amount of energy you use during a race or group ride, and hence influences the power you have left for the finish.
If you watch the peloton carefully, you see accelerations and decelerations well before they affect you, giving you time to react with minimal additional effort.
Likewise, it's typically easier to move up when the peloton is riding on wider roads, so you don't want to be at the back of the group when the roads get narrow.

 Peloton
Peloton is a game that impressed everyone the first time out, dropped quickly the second and all but died on the third, but I think I know why this happened and what needs to be done.
The main reason Peloton has been given a full review (rather than short shrift in Gamer's Notebook) is that the game is probably salvageable and the core movement system is quite ingenious.
Otherwise, Peloton has an interesting, quick system, respectable production values, represents good value for money and, for that first outing, was a really thrilling game - so good that I considered it a find to rank with Sechs Tage Rennen in terms of recreating the feel of cycle racing as well as the cyclists themselves.
