Topic: Pelsall

In the News (Tue 14 Feb 12)

  GENUKI: Pelsall
Pelsall was anciently the seat of Robert de Corbeuil, a Norman, who came to England with Willaim the Conqueror, and held the manor of Robert de Stafford, by the service of a knight's fee.
The perpetual curacy is in the patronage of the Bishop of Lichfield, and incumbency of the Rev William Jesse, BA, of Margaretting, Essex, for whom the Rev Philip G Harper, MA, officiates.
A transcript of the Pelsall registers for the period 1763-1812 (Bapts & Bur) was published jointly by the Staffordshire Parish Register Society and the Birmingham & Midland SGH in 1985 together with the Rushall registers.

November 1872, there was no indication of the events which were to upset the whole village of Pelsall and make it the centre of interest for whole of the Black Country area, and give the local journalists an opportunity to indulge in lurid descriptions of the events and emotions connected with the events.
In 1872 the main to Pelsall was by rail.
The picture, which visitors had of Pelsall at that time, is vastly different from the one we have today.

Belper Town Football Club : nailers online :: news report ::
Mark Ward's header went over the Pelsall defenders in the 8th minute but 'keeper Paul Cooke beat Andy Evans to the ball, then another 7 minutes elapsed before Evans recorded Belper's first direct effort, and again it was the Villains' 'keeper that denied an Andy Evans header.
Mark Ward's lob into the six yard area caught out the Pelsall defenders and as Andy Evans challenged the 'keeper, Andy Simpson was well positioned to knock the loose ball into the empty net.
The Nailers are sure to get tougher games than this as they progress in the competition, but on this day they did all that was asked of them and fully deserved their victory.
