  BBC - South West Wales Pembrey Circuit - Pembrey Circuit
The Pembrey Race Circuit is the National Motorsport Centre of Wales.
It has played host to some of the biggest names in international motorsport, and continues to be a much-valued testing and racing facility that brings a lot to the Llanelli area of Carmarthenshire.
The cream of international motor racing has made the journey to Pembrey to test their machines.

Between 1941 and 1945 Pembrey was host to the RAF's Air Gunnery School, after which its activities relaxed a little and it became an air crew holding unit for war weary crews being demobbed.
The Pembrey Duty Pilot, one Sgt. Jeffreys, grabbed a Very pistol and ran from the control tower and jumped onto the wing of Faber's aircraft as it taxied in.
As news broke of his landing in Pembrey, Fighter Command despatched pilots to photograph and return the aircraft to the Royal Aircraft Establishment at Farnborough.

 RAF Pembrey
The area saw a great deal of action with the airfield and Royal Ordnance Factory at Pembrey being major targets for German bombers and Kidwelly was bombed twice, one drop falling on the house of an Irish gentleman in Priory Street.
The RAF had planned a commando raid to gain one from France but the windfall at Pembrey and 2 later aircraft that landed in Kent, meant that they could test and analyse the one German fighter that could outperform the Spitfire and it was not until the Mark 9 that the Spitfire was supreme again.
There was talk as to whether the Austrian pilot had defected on purpose but this was probably not true as he tried to destroy the aircraft, though his brother was on the Eastern Front and there was talk that he had British relatives.

Trial workings for coal on the Pembrey estate proved to be succesful and a number of levels and pits were opened in Coed y Marchog (Knight's wood) and Coed Rhial (Royal wood) on the western slope of Pembrey Mountain.
Management of the colliery was undertaken from an office at Pembrey Court and the coal was carried by pack-horse to the estuary of the river Gwendraeth and to the Burry inlet.
The Ashburnham canal ran from the foot of Pembrey mountain to the Gwendraeth estuary and its aim was to improve the transport of coal from the Pembrey colliery to the sea.

 Pembrey 2006
Amanda has already secured her place on the grid for the battle between 16 novice female racing drivers which is to be held at top motor racing circuits around the country during the summer.
This was her second visit to the challenging Pembrey circuit and her aims were to consolidate her knowledge of the track, improve her lap times and compete in two practice races against other ‘Formula Woman’ candidates.
Pembrey is the first fixture on the calendar of the championship and two races will be held there on the weekend of 28-30 July.

We have 3 meetings at Pembrey this year, a couple of 2-day events, including the British Sidecar Championships.
Pembrey, is almost universally liked and is a true riders circuit and by that I mean that good riders always perform well at the demanding 1.45 mile circuit, that is the home of Welsh motor-sport.
Pembrey is situated on the A484 between Llanelli and Carmarthen in Dyfed, South Wales.

Professor Marcus Pembrey, who is also head of Genetics at Children of the 90s, says that over the long term, the process of Darwinian evolution by random errors in DNA followed by natural selection ensures that the human race adapts to changes in our environment.
Professor Pembrey's theory suggests that this short term response system – in effect adjusting the way our genes behave - allows subsequent generations to respond to threats faced by their parents or grandparents.
Professor Pembrey says: “Professor Bygren found that the lifespan of the grandchildren seemed to be influenced by their paternal grandfathers’ access to food, particularly during the grandfather’s slow growth period – that is between the ages of 9 and 12 before they reached puberty.

 PEMBREY WALK
Little is now to be seen except for one old mine shaft passed in Coed Rhyal, the remains of the old mineral railway road-bed and the choked waters of the old canal by Ffrwd Farm Mire Nature Reserve.
The once busy Spitfire airfield is now the Motor Sports Centre with buzzards, kestrels and marsh harriers ruling the air, while the paths that link forest and fen show the scars of past industry and nature shows its healing power by covering old workings in a cloak of wild flowers.
Follow the lane straight on downhill, passing the ruins of Pembrey Court Farm, through an area of expensive looking housing that enjoys great views of the Gower, to the main road.

Pembrey is a bit of a distant memory now, but here goes.
The ZXR that I had raced at Keevil was sold to Ricky, who plans to use it for Streetstocks with NG next season, good luck mate.
We could do with a bit of a safety net for Pembrey as I didn't have a chance to test my bike, and in the week leading up to the meeting Rich Halford was also dubious about his FZR.

We were expecting this to be a wet and miserable meeting, as Pembrey tends to be like that in July, never mind the end of September.
This is the nearest we have got to a points finish since I got an 11th at Pembrey back in March at the first meeting of the season.

We only live a short distance from Pembrey, regulary use the country park and it's attractions but had never stayed on the CC site.
It is right at the entrance to Pembrey Country Park with dry toboggan run, horse riding, picnic areas and two play areas for the kids.
Pembrey is a Caravan club site and maintained to a very high standard.
