Pembroke College is a college of the University of Cambridge, home to over 600 students and fellows, and is the third oldest of the existing colleges.
On Christmas Eve 1347, Edward III granted Marie de St Pol, widow of the Earl of Pembroke, the licence for the foundation of a new educational establishment in the young university at Cambridge.
The college was later renamed Pembroke House, and finally became Pembroke College in 1856.

Visitors at the dedication were able to see the handwrought silver scroll box in the style of a medieval reliquary which Pembroke College in Brown was preparing to send to Pembroke College in Cambridge.

Whichever College you come to, you will attend the same lectures, take the same University examinations, and be awarded the same degree.
Pembroke is one of the oldest Colleges, founded in 1347, with beautiful buildings (including a chapel built by Sir Christopher Wren) and a new student accommodation block complete with multi-gym and music rooms.
The informal College gardens are some of the loveliest in Cambridge, but are not on the main tourist route.

Pembroke College intends to elect during 1999 to a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship if candidates of sufficient merit present themselves.
The holder will be expected to do a limited amount of teaching for the College but would require the permission of the Governing Body to undertake other paid work.
