Pendlebury is one half of the historic borough of Swinton and Pendlebury, which was amalgamated into the City of Salford in 1974 as a result of the Local Government Act 1972.
Pendlebury sits almost midway between Manchester and Bolton and is neighboured by Irlam o' th' Heights, Clifton, Prestwich and Swinton in the county of Greater Manchester, England.
The Kearsley, Clifton, Pendlebury and Pendleton Miners Association was established in 1888 and became the Pendlebury Branch of the National Union of Mineworkers in 1959.

Born in October 1904, Pendlebury's love of Greece was triggered by a trip to Mycenae in the Peloponnese at the age of 19.
Pendlebury became British vice-consul for the island, and used that position and his close ties with the Cretan people, to gather together groups of brigands, with a cause.

Pendlebury's knowledge of the island was unique, and when, in the end, he managed to convince the sluggish military authorities, he was sent to England, trained as a cavalryman at Weedon, commissioned as a captain in a branch of military intelligence and then sent back to Crete as the British vice-consul in Heraklion.
Pendlebury and the Cretans made guerrilla strikes on Kasos, the Dodecanesian island 25 miles from the eastermost cape, and there was a far-flung caique operation on Castellorizo, off the south coast of Turkey.
Pendlebury and a Greek platoon were still exchanging fire with the Germans when a new wave of Stukas came over and Pendlebury was wounded in the chest.

The science Pendlebury was referring to involved recent studies by the U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy and the Pew Oceans Report, both of which cited overfishing, bycatch (catching other sea life along with the fish being sought), coastal development and increasing pollution as the leading causes in the collapse of the overall ocean ecosystem.
Pendlebury announced that as a result of these studies, 14 state groups have joined a coalition of more than 300 national organizations in a campaign called Conserve Our Ocean Legacy.
Pendlebury’s call to educate citizens about the importance of the oceans was echoed by Seacoast Science Center President Wendy Lull; John Philips, director of the New England chapter of Ocean Conservancy; and ocean activist Walter Fries.

William de Pendlebury in 1292 had given this manor to Adam II, and in 1300 Beatrice de Pendlebury quit claimed her rights in Pendlebury and Wickleswick to Adam II for £100.
This was not legal as far as Pendlebury was concerned, since that manor already belonged to Alice, so Adam could not re-grant it, and is especially curious since both deeds were “final agreements” decided in the King’s Court at Westminster under the same four justices.

Andrews Civic Trust is currently seeking donations to aid in the restoration of the oldest surviving mainland wooden Lighthouse in New Brunswick (3rd oldest one in the province).
The Pendlebury LH project is finally going ahead now, the LH Restaurant property on Patrick Street is going through town council for final approval of the subdivision, and the vacant lot has been sold.
Thankfully the Pendlebury lighthouse was moved this summer back off the wharf onto dry land closeby.
