		The Pennsylvanian is a 444-mile (715 km) daytime Amtrak train running between New York, New York and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania via Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
		At the time the Pennsylvanian was inaugurated, the Broadway Limited was departing Pittsburgh at an inconvenient early morning hour.
		After that period, and after the required public hearings were conducted, the Pennsylvanian was restarted on March 8, 2005 as a truncation of the Three Rivers over the original route of the Pennsylvanian.

		For many Amtrak customers, this will mean an improvement in the schedule of their trains, while two Amtrak services that were primarily extended to accommodate mail and express business are being reduced or eliminated.

Amtrak’s Keystone and Pennsylvanian Schedules and Travel Guides to all other service locations with their destination and arrival times are available at the Harrisburg Transportation Center.

		By discontinuing the Pennsylvanian, Amtrak stuck it to Pennsylvania, period.
		If either the Pennsylvanian or Three Rivers were to terminate in Ohio if only those two states were to fund it, then the states should fund it, but the Three Rivers was bound for Chicago, that automatically makes it a Long Distance Train, and the states should not have to fund the enitre train.
		My problem with the way Amtrak handled this, and NARP’s reporting of it, is the implication that the two affected states: Pennsylvania (primarily) and Ohio were offered a real opportunity to continue the service and declined.

		Amtrak officials also are expected to announce tomorrow that the consolidated new train between Pittsburgh and New York City will mean discontinuing use of a sleeper car and possibly using a smaller cafe car.

		Most important, though, is the need to maintain as many intercity transportation options as possible with US Airways in its second Chapter 11 bankruptcy and doing away with its Pittsburgh hub.

		WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Amtrak's Philadelphia-Chicago Pennsylvanian will revert to a train operating no farther west than Pittsburgh in January as the railroad phases out the express business that was the train's raison d'etre west of the Steel City, according to a Trains magazine report that appeared on the publication's website.
		The Pennsylvanian was extended west of Pittsburgh to Chicago, via Cleveland and Toledo, four years ago as part of Amtrak's plan to tap the express market.
		The only other confirmed major change coming with Amtrak's January 27 timetable will be the addition of a 10th Acela Express trip linking New York and Boston in both directions: an 11:15 a.m.

		Elko NV The station was cleaned up and minor repairs were made here and there sometime around late July to early August 2005 and the signs were changed out.
		The Amtrak station is now only the small part on the right end of the building, including the blue and cream balloon painted garage door (baggage area), a small waiting roomat brown door which includes an agent's office the size of a closet.

		It saddens me to see some of Amtrak's premium employees look for other employment because they can't meet the expense of moving their families to another crew base where they may have the seniority to work.
		Amtrak owns the Keystone corridor as it does the NEC but neglected it until PA DOT came up with money for rehabilitation.
		Amtrak wanted PA to come up with $2.5 million the keep the Pennsylvanian, so shouldn't they ask NY for money to keep the Buffalo trains.
