Anfernee Deon ("Penny") Hardaway (born July 18, 1971 in Memphis, Tennessee) is a 6' 7" (2.01 m) professional American basketball player in the NBA playing at small forward/shooting guard.
Hardaway adopted the nickname "Penny" from his grandmother who used to say that Anfernee was "pretty as a penny" and hence his friends began to call him by that name.
Hardaway's greatest disappointment was not winning an NBA championship after being swept by the Houston Rockets in the 1995 NBA Finals.

i think in terms of what they have done in there careers, penny hardaway is the best player on this knicks roster, when he dose get healthy again i got no doubt he should play a key role on this knicks team.
Penny is useless on any team at this point if you ask me. He's slow, and has many many issues like Grant Hill WITHOUT the actuall playing abilities.

So why is it that the Phoenix Suns can advertise their basketball team with Penny Hardaway, have fans gobble up season tickets, then have it come out that they knew all along that Penny would not be there for quite some time?
Until Hardaway himself revealed that the surgery he underwent was much more serious, that it could prolong, or even save, Hardaway's basketball career if it proves successful in the long term.
Hardaway is probably as much to blame as anybody.
