I answered then that the flag, five horizontal stripes black,green,yellow,white,red, was probably the flag of one of the two main political parties of the time, either Jagan's People's Progressive Party or Burnham's People's National Congress.
It could well be that of one of the two main political parties, either Jagan's People's Progressive Party, or Burnham's People's National Congress.
It definitely is not the design of any political party flag.

Hoyte, a British-trained lawyer who received his law degree in 1959, was Guyana's President from 1985-1992, when his party lost to the governing People's Progressive Party.

She was Guyana's first female prime minister and vice president, two roles she performed concurrently before being elected to the presidency.

On December 16, 2004, the National Assembly approved Resolution No. 54 concerning the establishment of a Special select Committee to recommend to it whether the 25 seats provided for by Section 11 of the Representation of the People Act (Chap 1:03) should be increased, and if so, by how many.
