	Igor Grabar (1871-1960)
		Grabar was recognized as a People's Artist of the Soviet Union in 1956 for his work in the areas of landscape, still life, and portrait painting and for his images of historical revolutionary themes.
		A highly esteemed artist, Grabar became a member of several distinguished societies, including World of Art (1902), the Union of Russian Artists (1903-1910), a life member of the Salon d'AuComne in Paris (1906), the Academy of Arts (1913), and in 1947, an active member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR.
		For seven years he acted as director at the Tretjakov Gallery (1918-1925) and later, from 1944 until his death in 1960, as director of the Institute of Art History of the Academy of Science of the USSR.

	Artists of Kazakhstan
		Zhanatay Shardenov, People's Artist of Kazakhstan, was born on April 4,1927 in the village of Kovylenko (Akmola region).
		In 1953 he graduated from the I.Ye.Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad, in 1961 he graduated from the creative post-graduate courses at A.M.Gerasimov's studio under the USSR Academy of Fine Arts.
