It took the air forces of 13 contributing NATO countries to batter Yugoslavia to the point that Milosevic agreed to withdraw his forces from Kosovo and permit the introduction of a UN peacekeeping force, including Russian troops, into the strife-torn province.
To end the war without Milosevic's concurrence, his political supporters, the army, and the people would have to come to a consensus that it was more in their interests to accede to NATO demands than it was to continue to resist.
One Air Force official quipped, "This is not Instant Thunder [the original code name for the air component of Desert Storm]; it's more like Constant Drizzle."[14] Of the 9,300 sorties flown by the end of the third week in April, about a month into the operation, only 2,750 were strike sorties.

PARAMETERS, US Army War College Quarterly - Winter 1999-2000
The Army dragged its feet in response to SACEUR's request for an Apache deployment; the helicopters were deployed at a glacial pace and with a ponderous 5,000-man contingent of support troops, including ground defense forces and MLRS batteries designed to suppress possible Serbian artillery attacks on the Apaches.
The Army's marginal relevance to the war against Serbia was not ascribable solely to the White House's political unwillingness--strongly supported by the Army--to commit ground forces to combat.
The Iraqi army was gutted by US air power; the Iranian army's tank park belongs in the Smithsonian; the Russian army remains a joke after Chechnya; the North Korean army is technologically primitive and lacks staying power; and nobody in the Pentagon is planning to fight the Chinese on the ground.

The Chinese or Peoples Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF), an air force created by the Chinese communists out of the remnants of the old Kuomintang air force (trained by the 14th Air Force under Major General Claire Chennault), fought the bulk of the communist air campaign over the Korea Peninsula.
Nevertheless, the air battles of Mig Alley provided communist aviators an opportunity to both develop tactics to counter a technologically superior UN air force and prove they were equal in both skill and courage to any U.S. Air Force, Commonwealth, or South Korean pilot.
In particular, he probes the impact of the Korean War on China's conception of the role of air power, arguing that it was not until the success of the U.S. Air Force during the Gulf War in the 1990s that Chinese leaders engaged in a broad reassessment of the strategy adopted during the Korean War.

The aircraft, wearing the Russian civil registration RA-78740, differs from the standard variant in having twin angled ventral fins at the extreme rear of the fuselage, whereas the Russian Air Force aircraft have horizontally-mounted aerodynamic surfaces extending from the fuselage sides behind the main undercarriage housing.
Another noteworthy feature is the absence of the standard A-50's large air intake at the base of the fin, associated with equipment cooling of the type's Shmel' AWACS radar.
However, the most significant feature of the aircraft, apart from the Phalcon radar to be installed by IAI Elta, is the provision of an in-flight refuelling probe.

 DEFENDING PAKISTAN - 1
The Indian Air Force (IAF) is the 4th largest in the world and growing rapidly.
The short time of missiles to target implies that fixed assets such as air bases, nuclear installations and weapon factories whose defence has been modeled on the assumption of a conventional air attack, will have to be protected with the missile threat in mind.
Given the fact that there are a total of 10 PAF forward air bases and 9 additional combat capable air bases versus 100 such bases in India, it follows that to keep the enemy on the defensive, the Pakistan armed forces require similar or better strike capability against such targets.

PLAAF - Chinese Aviation in Technology
The birth of the PLAAF (Peoples' Liberation Army Air Force) brought the rest of the world down in size and military capability owing to the fact that the pure strengh of the PLAAF cannot ever be underestimated or over powered by any one-man country such as its' neighborouring partners, Japan, Korea or Taiwan.
The PLA (Peoples' Liberation Army) and the PLAAF had studied greatly in this and between the 60's, they began to build missiles of their own including ICMB's (Inter-continental Ballistic Missiles) and their now recent developed project, the Chinese Dong Feng Missiles.
One of the major achievements made by China, besides the great leap foward, was the formation of the PLA, PLAAF and the newly acquired navy consisting now over 500,000 PLA Marines.

While the United States has made clear its desire for peaceful relations with the Chinese people, the government of the PRC is actively preparing for a possible war with democratic Taiwan, as it continues to proliferate dangerous nuclear weapon and missile technologies to rogue regimes.
With this Sukhoi fleet as the tip of the spear, in combination with PLA missile forces and other air forces, the PLAAF will soon be able to contest air superiority over the Taiwan Strait and maybe over Taiwan itself, perhaps for the first time since the founding of the PRC.
This task was fraught with difficulty and it does not appear that the PLAAF began to exercise their fighters to their full potential until the later 1990s.
