For those who don't know, the City of Peoria is considering dumping its rigid code that sets specific standards for specific zoning catagories that can't be broken without speicif permission with a different system that lets the city take into account the different conditions in each neighborhood.

The Peoria Civic Center was a wonderful idea when original conceived, but the people running it on the Peoria Civic Center Authority obviously are not up to the job.

On October 14, 2001, a life-size bronze statue of Lincoln, marking the 1854 debate with Douglas, was dedicated at the Peoria County Courthouse Plaza.

The bronze sculpture was cast in Italy, shipped to Peoria in large crates and assembled by the artist on a granite base which came from Deer Island off the coast of Maine.
