The Pequot War was an armed conflict in 1637 between an alliance of Massachusetts Bay and Plymouth colonies, with American Indian allies (the Narragansett, and Mohegan Indians), against the Pequot Indians.
The earliest historians of the Pequot War have also speculated that the Pequot migrated from the upper Hudson River Valley toward central and eastern Connecticut sometime around 1500, but these claims are largely disputed by modern anthropology.
In the aftermath of the Pequot War, the Pequot were implicated in the trader's death.
