Byrne asked the Minister for Supplies if he is aware of the scarcity of perambulators at a suitable price and of high prices demanded for existing stocks of new and second-hand perambulators; and if he will see that additional supplies will be made available at a price suitable to the means of the average citizen.
I am aware that there is a scarcity of perambulators, due to the difficulties which have been experienced for a considerable time past in obtaining supplies of raw materials for manufacturing purposes.
The question of fixing maximum or ceiling prices for perambulators is under consideration, but owing to the wide differences in type and quality serious technical difficulties present themselves and it is not clear yet as to how they can be surmounted.

The perambulations also have practical importance for professional land surveyors, said Gerald Miller, a Hampton surveyor.
In the absence of a statewide surveying standard, Miller said, local perambulators and their centuries-old stone markers are the best reference for town boundaries.

Where people are travelling on the road and a pedestrian crossing is available, good road to path connections should be provided to give people a choice of facility, stay on the road or deviate to the path.
Note: The only reference to cyclists in the whole of this document is “cyclists must dismount at pedestrian crossings”.

Penelope's English Experiences by Kate Douglas Wiggin: Chapter XXI. I remember, I remember.
These are the more alarming to the timid eye in that many of them are double-barrelled, so to speak, and are loaded to the muzzle with babies; for not only do Belvern babies frequently appear as twins, but there are often two youngsters of a perambulator age in the same family at the same time.
To weave that donkey and that Bath 'cheer' through the narrow streets of the various Belverns without putting to death any babies, and without engendering the outspoken condemnation of the screaming mothers and nurserymaids, is a task for a Jehu.
Of course Jane makes it more difficult by lunging into one perambulator in avoiding another, but she prefers even that risk to the degradation of treading the path I wish her to tread.
