Rod (unit) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The length is equal to the standardized length of the ox-goad used by medieval English ploughmen; fields were measured in acres which were one chain (four rods) by one furlong (in England, ten chains).
Note 1: A perch is also a unit of area of land = 1 square rod, and a unit of cubic measure of stonework, usually = 16.5 feet by 1 foot by 1.5 feet = 24.75 cubic feet.

Size distributions of cohorts of pikeperch and perch originating from three lakes in the Netherlands were compared to test the hypothesis that skewness or bimodality within cohorts of pikeperch and perch develops especially in environments with a discontinuous size distribution of their potential food items.
Perch did not gain an energetic advantage by migrating in a homothermal water column, but they may have gained access to copepods in addition to their main diet of benthic invertebrates.

White perch are semi-anadromous spawners, meaning they live here year-round (unlike most adult rockfish, a cousin), then move into low-salinity to freshwater of large rivers in April through June to spawn.
This is an important biological factor considering white perch are among the most pursued recreational and commercial fishes in Chesapeake waters.
The recreational fishery for white perch is significant, especially in Maryland.

Primate Perch Installation   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-17)
Installing a perch is a bigger problem with squeeze-back than with standard cages, because the perch can interfere with the restraint mechanism.
With both the door and the front of the cage open, we inserted the perch in the sleeve; then we closed the front of the cage and fit the proximate end of the perch into the socket.
Two natural parameters - not the bar-spacing of the squeeze-back - determine the diameter of the perch: the animal's weight (the perch should not bend under the animal's weight) and the diameter for a comfortable sit (the animal should be able to balance on the perch without having to hold the cage ceiling or walls).

Cave fishes of the family Amblyopsidae retain their eggs within their gills, and, as with pirate perch, their anus is located in the throat near the gills.
The pirate perch were fed a large variety of items, but primarily earthworms, whiteworms, and live adult brine shrimp.
In the future, for others who may attempt spawning the pirate perch, it would be a good idea to leave the eggs with the spawning female to see if she provides eggs and young with any protection.

 DazeCars, Roller Spring Perches
One might argue that a coil spring provides all the pressure needed to turn the perch and that a smooth turning radius is not necessary, but the problem is that the force applied, from suspension travel, to move the perch prior to the rubber bushing flexing is absorbed by flexing of the spring and shock.
If the perch being modified is an original, then the shaft should be relatively easy to remove from the center assembly once the case has been split.
This is accomplished by placing two pry bars or punches in the shock mounting holes of the perch and then use a bench vice to squeeze the two shafts together and, thus, bend the journal.

Combining their experimental observations and theoretical calculations, the collaborators interpreted the second resonance, occurring at a photon energy of 38 eV, as a volume plasmon, corresponding to a radial compression of the electron density, as opposed to the back-and-forth motion of a surface plasmon.
The excitation of a volume plasmon in a solid conducting sphere is dipole forbidden, leading to its suppression in photoabsorption by metal clusters.
However, a volume plasmon is possible in C-60 because of its shell geometry.

We subjected commercial catch-per-unit-effort (CPUE) records of walleye, yellow perch, and animal feed (composed primarily of drum) to spectral analysis.
Walleye and yellow perch CPUE time series were significantly coherent at periods ranging from 5 to 10 yr, confirming the predator-prey relationship and common recruitment patterns of these two species.
While drum recruitment and growth are consistent with the periodicity in the autospectrum, we find little evidence from coherencies that drum recruitment is related to the dynamics of walleye or perch populations.
