Canaanitish tribe settled in the south of Palestine between Hor and Negeb, although it is not mentioned in the genealogy in Gen. x.
The Perizzites were among the tribes that were not subjected to tribute by Solomon (I Kings ix.
The view was formerly held that the Perizzites were a prehistoric tribe which became assimilated to the Canaanites when the latter invaded Palestine; but this is in contradiction to the fact that the Perizzites are not mentioned in the genealogy.

 The Perizzites
Perizzites are cripples, lame people who feel unworthy, who feel spiritually unable to walk on their own.
As spiritual cripples, Perizzite believers refuse to "walk", and prefer to delegate spiritual judgments to those whom they believe to be more worthy of such an honor than their "tiny" and "insignificant" selves.
Perizzite believers are unaware of their spiritual authority to judge, and therefore are to God as spiritual cripples, unable to walk in His judgments and unable to establish God's kingdom authority on Earth.

Though the Perizzites will impose themselves at every opportunity between you and others with whom you will be dealing, insisting upon their right to assert their views of matters of which they have even yet to hear, they are essentially followers.
Perizzites are emphatically proud, while the Amorites are only incidentally proud, and are much more sociable.
I saw a few Perizzites peeping around corners to see what was happening to me. They do seem to think a lot, despite their proud exterior.

These Canaanites and Perizzites, dwelling in the land, are clearly representative of the evils of the flesh that lurk in every Christian heart -- jealousy, envy, resentment, bitterness, malice, etc. They are always ready to spring into action if there is any dissension or grievance between Christians.

The Perizzites were one of the Canaanite nations who occupied the God-designated land of Israel prior to the time that God set for the Israelites to possess it themselves.
While some have regarded this as "unfair" to the Perizzites and other Canaanites, it was not, when one considers that they were, in effect, tenants on God's land, and when one realizes and appreciates the ultimate meaning and purpose of "Israel" (see Physical and Spiritual Israel).

Later in Genesis another tribe is mentioned, the Perizzites, though they do not appear on the Gen. 10 genealogy.
The interesting thing about this is that if you add the Perizzites to the other Canaanite tribes mentioned this brings the number up to twelve.
Alternatively, you could ignore the Perizzites and to the original eleven add the Hittite/Hurrian warrior aristocracy that made up the ruling class of most of the cities- this gives you 12 also.

The Roman sea captains, like all Mediterranean seafarers of those days, were accustomed to put in to land every night, and never sailed in bad weather.
None of them understood how the Phoenicians (and their ancient forefathers, the Pelasgians [in Greek], Peleset [in Egyptian] and Perizzite [in Semitic]) had been able to sail through all kinds of weather on the high seas and arrive exactly at their proposed destination, as they were reputed to be able to do.
Caesar had brought up a large fleet of Roman war galleys from the Mediterranean to crush the Sea Gauls and drive their ships away from the coasts of northern and western France, where they had been landing and stirring up local revolts against Rome for years.

 The Hivites
If you already read the previous article in this series on the Perizzites, you will remember that "Perizzite" means "belonging to a village", which is very similar to the meaning of "Hivite".
As we said with the Perizzites, villages have a connotation of "limited vision", implying that Hivites also have a limited vision of life.
What makes them different from the Perizzites, however, is the way in which people under the influence of Hivite spirits limit their life.

On several occasions prophetic statements were made in the Pentateuch about the land that Yahweh, the tribal god of the Israelites, had promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

The synagogue epitomized everything that God hated, and made it easy for two of the seven spirits of the seven nations – the Amorites and the Perizzites – to conceal their activities and ongoing subversion of the Israelites.
The Pharisees had their roots in the spirit of the Perizzites.
Depending on how the two were contracted in Greek, it meant, “Power over the common people,” or “Power to the common people.” Thus, the deeds and doctrine of the Nicolaitans were common to both the Amorites and Perizzites: Humanism.
