Born in Perry County on October 10, 1869, the son of David and Sarah Roberts Taylor, he grew to manhood on a farm and had no opportunity for schooling until the age of 21 when he attended a one-room grade school near his home.
He went on to study medicine and returned to practice in Perry County, practicing in Leopold until his death in 1950.

Thirty years after the admission of Kentucky into the Union, a section of territory was carved out of Floyd County in eastern Kentucky and named Perry.
In 1824 a post office was established on the banks of the North Fork of the Kentucky River, 145 miles southeast of Lexington and called Perry Court House.
Admiral Perry died long before learning of the town and county named in his honor, but the eastern Kentucky mountaineers who made their way north to fight with the forces of the admiral never forgot his name.

This birth span fits with "Perry County" John Walker; however, the census reveals four children under the age of 10...far more than could reasonably be expected to be born between the 1818 marriage date of John Walker and Polly Devers, and the census date.
This tends to reinforce the thought that "Perry County" John Walker was the John Walker shown in Clay County between 1818 and 1822.

The murder took place on Lotts Creek in Perry County and was said to have resulted from a fight that broke out over a poker game.
Although this happened a number of years before my existence, I find historical matters of Perry County to pertain to me since all of my family, excluding my mother, were born and raised here.
