Later in '97, Farrell did a brief reunion tour with Jane's Addiction (Eric Avery, who refused the invitation, was replaced by The Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea on bass), releasing a spotty live/outtakes collection Kettle Whistle the same year.

In place of the white, male, American hard-rock vibe that Soundgarden, Metallica, Rancid, the Ramones, and Screaming Trees brought to the Lollapalooza main stage this year, ENIT is drawing on the rave/dance/DJ subculture to present (excuse the expression) an alternative to mainstream alternative.
But Farrell is aiming to make ENIT more than just another set of acts from a different side of the pond.
Farrell has been raising eyebrows ever since he came into the cultural spotlight, and ENIT may be his riskiest venture yet, especially when you consider that he just as easily could have sat back and collected a fat paycheck from Lollapalooza for the rest of the decade and beyond.

Farrell's legendary bad habits didn't faze the rabbi, who quotes Chassidism's founder, the 18th-century Rabbi Baal Shem Tov, as saying that Jews return to their roots "like a slingshot," and that even the misbehaving rise above the perfectly pious if they are on the path of return, baal teshuva.
Farrell believes utopia is coming, and he constantly uses the word "party" to describe it, as if the Messianic Age will be one giant cosmic Lollapalooza.
Farrell says that although it's no secret he was a drug addict, he's still deeply ashamed to have a video of himself at his most smacked-out and depraved floating around the world, available to anyone willing to fork over $19.

First of all, I think Perry Farrell is one those flaky artists that can't be relied on to follow anything through, mainly because he's constantly jumping from one thing to another, rather than concentrating on what he's best at.
When Perry goes into 'Our Song' you can see that he's not really riding the wave of electronic music that was being hyped at the time, but rather, putting his own stamp on a music that he found innovative and fresh.
Farrell sounds almost sweet while singing about 'someone meeting someone', and the accomapnying music is the mellowest on the album.

Whether you adore or despise his rhythmic musical orchestrations and his siren-squeal voice, it is impossible to ignore the sonic niche this devilish imp has carved for himself in the music world towards the end of the millennium.
So, whether or not one is pro or anti Perry Farrell, it is impossible to ignore him when he chooses to throw a new work into the musical spectra: he is simply too controversial.
When Perry Farrell's siren-song vocals and Dave Navarro's mind-bending experimental guitar amalgamated into one jaw-dropping whole, as it did on such tracks as "Mountain Song" and "Been Caught Stealing," there was absolutely no questioning the extraordinary power this band held in their musical grasp.

Surprise Number Two: (or maybe, it's really a surprise this hasn't changed!) Perry's high pitched voice and the general calmness of a lot of the album work sort of as a sleeping aide, making your eyes heavy and your mind dull (CAUTION: Not for use while operating a motor vehicle or heavy machinery).
