Pershore is in the Wychavon district and is part of the West Worcestershire parliamentary constituency.
Pershore is 6 miles east of Evesham and 6 miles west of Upton-upon-Severn.
Pershore is famous for its elegant Georgian architecture and important as the centre of a district rich in fruit and vegetable production (it is in the vale of Evesham).

A register containing an account of the estates held of the abbey and the privileges enjoyed by the convent was burnt during one of these fires, and a commission was held to ascertain their extent by the evidence of the monks.
The abbey of Pershore appears to have been diligently visited by the bishop of Worcester, or, in the case of a vacancy, by the prior of Worcester.

The history of Pershore Abbey is beautifully illustrated in two stained glass windows in the south choir aisle of the present building.
We have a genuine charter of Edgar, of AD 972 (written in an amazingly complicated style, as is the habit of the time), which confirms many lands to the Abbey.
Her relics were eventually enshrined in the south transept of the post-Conquest Abbey church at Pershore, where they became a popular place of pilgrimage throughout the Middle Ages.

Pershore Abbey, at Pershore in Worcestershire, was founded in the 7th century, and came under the Benedictine rule in about the 10th century.
A monk of Pershore, named Richard Beerely, was one of those who gave evidence to Thomas Cromwell about the misbehaviour of some of his brothers, writing that "Monckes drynk an bowll after collacyon tell ten or xii of the clock, and cum to mattens as dronck as myss, and sume at cardes, sume at dyss."
The abbey church remained in use as a parish church.

 English Abbeys - Pershore Abbey
Although the Presbytery was rebuilt in the first half of the 13th century, and extensively repaired some 50 years later following a fire, Pershore Abbey is essentially an imposing Norman structure internally.
After the Dissolution of the monasteries, the Lady Chapel and nave were demolished, leaving the area from the crossing to the eastern end of the church for use by the parish.
Standing at the edge of the town, Pershore Abbey is not exactly dominating but its appearance is impressively Gothic and very distinct, with enormous buttresses extending from the tower and graceful flying buttresses supporting the clerestory and roof.
