Pertechnetate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pertechnetate is analogous to permanganate but it has little oxidizing power.
Solutions of pertechnetate react with the surface of iron to form technetium dioxide, in this way it is able to act as an anodic corrosion inhibitor.
Pertechnetate can substitute for iodine in the Na/I Symporter (NIS) Channel in follicular cells of the thyroid gland, inhibiting uptake of iodine into the follicular cells.

The extraction of nitric acid bv tributyl phosphate (TBP) dissolved in kerosene has been investigated between 0.1 and 7 M aqueous nitric acid concentration at different temperatures.
The extraction of pertechnetic acid has also been studied In the same system under the same conditions.
The experimental results can be explained as an ion exchange process between nitrate ion and pertechnetate ion of the extracted metal salt.

In order to make the electrolytic solution incombustible, a halogen-containing solvent, such as carbon tetrachloride or trifluorochloroethylene, may be added to the electrolytic solution (JP-A No. 36632/1973).
Furthermore, in order to make the electrolytic solution resistant to high-temperature preservation, carbonic acid gas may be incorporated thereto (JP-A No. 134567/1984).
The composite materials for positive and negative electrodes may contain an electrolytic solution or an electrolyte.

Chemistry : Periodic Table : technetium : chemical reaction data
Technetium metal does dissolve in warm bromine water.
In similar fashion to rhenium, immediately below technetium in the periodic table, technetium is insoluble in hydrochloric acid (HCl) and hydrofluoric acid (HF).
In this form, the technetium is in the formal +7 oxidation state.
