PESSIMIST is by definition: "a belief in the dark side, and the tendency to take the darkest and most negative view of the world.
PESSIMIST became recognized for their unique brand of brutal and technical Black/Death Metal, with old-school thrash influences, an emphasis on quality songwriting, powerful live shows and a dark, evil sound.
In 1999 PESSIMIST released their brutal follow-up "Blood for the Gods" CD, again on Lost Disciple Records which soared into the CMJ National Top 20 Loud Rock Charts and received the coveted "Pick of the Issue...10 Fucking Skulls!" in SOD Magazine.

The Positive Side of Being a Pessimist
For example, the study showed that pessimists tend to fare better as gamblers and know when to cut their losses rather than let it roll.
The study showed that pessimists were more likely to reduce their bets if their past performance had been poor, but the optimists seemed relatively unfazed by their losses.
For example, pessimists may have the advantage in situations where resources and opportunities are limited, such as a down stock market, while optimists may fare better in situations where persistence is rewarded in the face of adversity.

Pessimist, one of the hardest working death metal bands in the scene right now, are working on their third full-length album "Slaughtering the Faithful" (due out in the fall) after suffering a major line-up change.
This band has changed constantly...we've always tried to progress as musicians, and make the heaviest and most extreme music we can, regardless of what the current trend is. Obviously we've had some lineup changes as well, so in that respect I can say that the band is now refined, and more focused than before.
Since re-forming Pessimist in '93, I have seen a lot of things happen for this band and we've gone from playing Tues nite shows opening for cover bands, to our 1st European Tour, getting signed and releasing 2 CDs so far, and playing fests all over the US.
