Krumov was murdered in broad day light in the busy main street, in the presence of tens of witnesses, including Major Moroe from the police and two colleagues with whom Krumov had left the hotel.
Krumov's colleagues who were also attacked, but managed to get out, have already given their testimonies to police.

Petar Krumov graduated from the State Academy of Music in 1957 majoring in Choral Conducting under Professor Georgi Dimitrov.
In 1956-57 he became Philip Koutev’s student at the State Ensemble for Traditional Song and Dance in Sofia (the today’s Philip Koutev National Folklore Ensemble).
He published folksong collections, wrote articles, notices, etc.
