BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Music | In tune with Britain's disco king
As disco began to rise up from US underground clubs, Munich-based Bellotte and Moroder added their own continental twist that would take it into every bar, radio station and supermarket.
Bellotte parted company with Summer in 1981 and Moroder in 1984, after the pair collaborated on a new soundtrack for Fritz Lang's Metropolis.
Nevertheless Bellotte has wide tastes in music and is currently most impressed by stylish US rock band The Killers.

Love him or hate him for it, but British producer Pete Bellotte [+] is one-third of the trio largely responsible for the wide sweeping success of the '70s disco movement.
Much more than the Bee Gees [+], the heavily orchestrated, throbbing hit singles produced by Bellotte were the virtual blueprint for disco music.
But as the old saying goes, live by the sword, die by the sword, and as disco dwindled and eventually petered out so did Bellotte's prosperous career.

The most known Eurodisco-sound is the sound of the German Eurodisco:Giorgio Moroder, Pete Bellotte, Keith Forsey, Harold Faltermeyer, Mats Bjorklund, Frank Farian, Amii Stewart.
Pete Bellotte, born August 1946, was home producer of the European Ariola label in Germany and came in contact with Giorgio Moroder for the 'Sone of my father' single, and made them from that moment on a team.
Pete had a studio in his house near Munich where he made the music for Trax, together with Keith Forsey, a drummer born January 1948 in London.

The single was unsuccessful, however, and Summer had to wait until 1974 to launch a solo career.
In that year, she, Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte (who met assisting Three Dog Night in the studio) worked together to produce "The Hostage", a European hit.
Continuing to work with Moroder and Bellotte, Love Trilogy (1976) and the concept album Seasons of Love (1976) were hits, though not as popular as Love to Love You Baby.

Bellotte apparently conceded, co-writing with his various composing partners six of the seven tracks, the only exception being the cover version of Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode".
It's a disco album and Pete Bellotte and his writers don't write anything close to a John/Taupin tune (or Barry Gibb for that matter), but as a disco album, the record does have some catchy tunes.
The entire record is played, with few synthesizers and almost no sequencing, by some talented musicians who lay down some really funky grooves to some just-right arrangements and overdubs, overseen by Bellotte, featuring his trademark producing technique he refined on many disco era hits of the day.

Lyrics: "Cage of Freedom"   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-04)
In (Notes From The Edge) #2 Scott McDaniel asked a question concerning Jon Anderson's song, "Cage of Freedom." The answer is this: the song was included on the soundtack for the 1984 revamping of Fritz Lang's 1926 classic silent film, _Metropolis_.
For those of you not familiar with the 1984 version of this movie, sound effects (such as slamming doors, clocks, etc.) and a subtle colorization (just shades of color here and there) were added along with a contemporary score written by Giorgio Moroder and songs written by the same with lyrics by Pete Bellotte.
The song lyrics and style really fit Jon--in fact, I'm surprised that he did not write the lyrics, but they are officially credited to the above mentioned Pete Bellotte.

Instead of being a Cinderella story, the theme was "romantic reflection." It was much more loosely constructed and, as such, left lots of room for experimentation.
In its sweep of fifteen songs -- eight of which Donna had a hand in writing -- she and her producers -- Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, embraced new stylistic ground.
The funky, get-on-up beat of disco still reigned supreme, but in many of the tunes there was a lusty rock'n'roll bite.

Las Vegas SUN: Summer of Love
One time disco queen Donna Summer -- icon of the music that dominated the late '70s -- was actually an established performer in Europe long before her 1975 hit "Love to Love You Baby" topped the dance charts.
But the erotic, 17-minute number with its pulsating electronic beats (produced by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte) forever changed her life.
The 56-year-old Boston native seemed destined for a career in musical theater before disco arrived on the music scene.

 invito all'ascolto di Donna Summer

Once Upon A Time Music CD is available from Bestprices.com
Although disco is primarily thought of as a singles-based music, Donna Summer and her primary collaborators, Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, indulged in some fairly ambitious concept albums that belie that simplistic assertion.
ONCE UPON A TIME is one of their most wide-ranging efforts, a double-album modern-day fairy tale that truly only makes sense when listened to as a whole, rendering Summer's inter-song narration and Moroder and Bellotte's use of repeated musical elements much more effectively.
Of course, this didn't really help the album reach its dance-floor audience; it was a comparative flop, with the single "I Love You" barely cracking the Top 40.
