The Lost Studio Of Romer Grey
Still, the Romer Grey studio deserves a place in the history of animation, not for the cartoons it produced (only two of which were completed, though never exhibited), but rather for providing entry into the business for a number of artists who would go on to rank among the industry's all time greats.
Despite their youth, Tom was 23 and Bob just 19, the McKimsons had more experience than most of the Grey staff and guided the hands of the newer animators, some of whom were recruited directly from local art schools.
"I remember Pete Burness and I were sitting around the lobby of the Chouinard School one Saturday morning and the phone rang," says veteran animator Jack Zander.

As Burness carried on the Magoo series, Hubley directed another Magoo entry - “Fuddy Duddy Buddy.” “Buddy” is indeed one of the best Magoo cartoons and represented a rare side of the character.
Burness would give some lax on his Magoo cartoons to work on the feature.
But eventually problems escalated and Burness quit after a fight with Steve Bosustow (leaving behind some unfinished Magoo stories which were later completed by other directors).

Mr. Magoo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
However, audiences quickly realized that the real star was Magoo, one of the few "human" cartoon characters ever produced in Hollywood at the time.
John Hubley, who created Magoo, handed the series completely over to creative director, Pete Burness.
Under Burness, Magoo would obtain two Oscars for the studio with When Magoo Flew (1955) and Magoo's Puddle Jumper (1956).

Burness was famous for his temper, so famous that fellow director, Ted Parmelee, patterned the lead character in 1952's "Pete Hot Head" after him.
Things were not going good during the production of 1001 Arabian Nights, and Burness quarrelled with Bosustow and left the studio.
He was replaced as director on the film (released by Columbia in 1959) by Jack Kinney, a veteran of the Disney Studio.
