Interview of Morbid Angel by Chronicles of Chaos
Pete Sandoval : I feel very excited, I can't wait man, because live is the way to prove the songs; you write an album, and you have a new record but you have to go and prove that you can do these songs live.
Pete Sandoval : Well, the thing is that fl metal down here in the states is not as popular, I don't hear much of it, I heard it is mostly in Europe where fl metal is big or hyped or whatever.
Pete Sandoval : Yeah, I just hope that they pick our _FFttF_ record and that they like it, and that they get the message and enjoy it a lot, and I hope it is powerful enough for their ears, and I hope to see them soon on the road.

Pete: This tour is better than many tours we've done, I think this is the heaviest and most extreme tour we have ever been a part of.
Pete: Right now our plan is to tour as much as possible, we are trying to make it as tight as possible we are playing every night and we are getting tighter and tighter.
Pete: I start to warm-up 30 minutes before the show, I get out a stool like this and my sticks and I start doing what I'm going to do that night, I work on fills and rolls and double bass (starts mimicking on the floor).

 Morbid Angel CD Reviews
Along with Trey and Erik's unearthly solos and Pete's backbreaking backbeats, they kick it into high gear with tracks like "Opening of the Gates" and "God of the Forsaken." But other tracks like "I" and "He Who Sleeps" methodically pummel you with brutal force.
Pete Sandoval's drumming and percussion is intense and almost able to stand on its own because it is so varied and appropriate for each song.
The best track without a doubt is "Invocation Of The Continual One." This track plays like a history lesson of early thrash to modern death metal; since it was written in 1984 it certainly has the mid-80s thrash feel to it, but with additional Morbid Angel genius.

By the time their only album, World Downfall was released in 1989, the band had already broken up, with Jesse Pintado joining Napalm Death and Pete Sandoval moving on to Morbid Angel.
Several years later, in 2005, Sandoval and Pintado decided to put a new version of the band together, and in the summer of 2006 their second album, Darker Days Ahead, was released.
Sadly, almost coinciding with the release of the new album came news that Pintado had died while in Europe, placing the future of the band in grave doubt.

The unique aspect of the Morbid Angel set was neither that the band was fast, nor that the Tucker wasn't comprehendible: it was the control each musician maintained over their instruments, especially Sandoval, whose feet, on command, played fast 16th note syncopated parts and no, not the rumbling train trademark of double bass drummers.
Guitarists Trey Azagthoth and Erik Rutandid did their part by playing fast and keeping up with the drummer, Pete Sandoval and bassist Steve Tucker held the low end, especially during wild guitar solos.
I would speculate that that roadie is just waiting until Sandoval is ill one night so he can fill in.

Groups like Venom, Mercyful Fate, and Slayer may have founded death metal in the early '80s, but it wasn't until such disciples as Morbid Angel came along at the close of the decade that the genre was pushed to its most extreme level, both musically and lyrically.
Over the course of their first few releases, 1989's Altars of Madness and 1991's Blessed Are the Sick (the latter considered by many as a landmark release in the death metal genre), the group's lineup consisted of Azagthoth, vocalist/bassist David Vincent, guitarist Richard Brunelle, and drummer Pete Sandoval.
The Tucker-led lineup lasted for a pair of releases, 1997's Formulas Fatal to the Flesh and 2000's Gateways to Annihilation, before he was replaced with former Hate Eternal vocalist/bassist Jared Anderson.
