		Peter comes from the Greek word πέτρα (read petra, in Latin used as petro-), meaning rock.
		According to the New Testament, Jesus gave the Apostle Peter (whose given name was Simon) the name Rocky (Kephas or Cephas in Aramaic; Petros or "bedros" (Greek).
		Saint Peter, according to Roman Catholic tradition, became the first bishop of Rome.

		Peter, Metropolitan of Kieff, who was then in union with Rome, in 1316 changed his see from that city to the city of Vladimir upon the Kliazma, now about midway between Moscow and Nizhni-Novgorod, for Vladimir was then the capital of Great Russia.
