Topic: Peter Brahe

  The Real Skeptic
Brahe spent his lifetime plotting the courses of the moon and the planets and he had this data recorded carefully in journals for anyone who could make sense out of it.
The Gildars show, through the exhumation of Brahe and the testing of his mustache hairs, how he was poisoned twice, and how that poisoning was carried out by Kepler to get control of Brahe's 40 years of observations for his own use.
Brahe was a true believer in the Earth being the center of the universe.

The aim of this project is to exhibit the astronomical inventions of Tycho Brahe, especially the instruments through which the stars and planets could be observed and by which distances and ascensions could be measured.
The instruments were built by Tycho Brahe and his staff between the 1570's and his death in 1601, many of them during his stay on the island of Hven (between 1576 and 1597).
In 1992 a new Tycho Brahe exhibition was inaugurated on Hven.

Naturally, Carol Keogh of The Tycho Brahe loves, lives and breathes music, but for the vocalist in one of the most beguiling and innovative groups around, her abode happens to be without the one thing you’d expect every musician and music fan to own.
The first thing you're likely to learn about Tycho Brahe is that he had a metal nose, that it was forever falling off and that he used to carry a little pot of nose glue in his pocket so he could stick it back on when it did.
Brahe himself had devised instruments that enabled him to determine the motions of the planets, even if he did still believe Copernicus was wrong and that the Vatican-favoured geocentric view of the solar system was right.

 The Copernican Series
Brahe was also a systematic observer of the motions of the heavens, plotting the courses of the moon and the planets on a timely basis, which is to say, he timed their passages across the heavens.
Brahe, looking at the fact that the heavenly objects sped up in the summer and slowed down in the winter, was therefore faced with deciding whether the time differential was due to a difference in rate or a difference in distance traveled.
That was the second choice Brahe had, the absurd notion that instead of a steady rate of speed with the planets traveling at different distances, the planets and the moon were traveling at the same distance, only the rate was changing.

 Death/brahe death of
In _Coming of Age in the Milky Way_, Timothy Ferris repeats the bladder explosion story, which was postulated at the time of Brahe's death and remained in circulation long enough to be quoted as fact in _Martyrs of Science_ by Sir David Brewster in 1874.
However, the notion that Brahe up and died right off the bat is something of a mutation - not even Brewster claims that, but Ferris does.
Also worth noting is that John Allyn Gade in _The Life and Times of Tycho Brahe_ seems to believe that Brahe suffered from a recurring bladder condition which he frequently consulted with physicians about, only to ignore their advice.
