  The Honourable Peter deCarteret Cory
The Honourable Peter deCarteret Cory, former Canadian Supreme Court Justice and distinguished international jurist, was appointed as the eleventh Chancellor of York University.
Justice Peter Cory, a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1989.
Cory reported his findings in October 2003 to the governments of Ireland and the United Kingdom, urging judicial inquiries into several of the cases.

Revelations about the yet to be published Cory Report have sparked further controversy after it was revealed that the British government had promised the report would not be made public until scrutinized by the families of the victims.

The retired Canadian judge, Peter Cory, has re-stated his belief that a public inquiry should be held to investigate the death of Belfast solicitor, Pat Finucane.
It is the first time retired judge Peter Cory has spoken publicly since the publication of his report last week.
But Mr Cory said that a public inquiry could be held in conjunction with court proceedings without affecting a criminal prosecution, which would be before a single judge.
