 The singer was Irish
Dawson became one of the most widely recorded singers in history, with an estimated 2,000 recordings.
Dawson’s powerful and controlled voice was particularly able to cope with the recording technology for wax cylinders which required great stamina—a performer often had to make multiple recordings of the same song, as a master recording only produced a limited number of cylinders.
Dawson’s diverse repertoire included both classical tunes and popular songs, and his 1938 recording of Waltzing Matilda is often credited with making the song recognised worldwide.

Classical Net Review - The Connoisseur's Peter Dawson
Dawson's Song of the Flea yields little to Feodor Chaliapin's justly famous recording, and his Don Juan's Serenade (Tchaikovsky) is without question the best I've heard (an opinion I share with Roger Beardsley, this CD's producer and transfer engineer).
Dawson's glorious voice and enormous personality, however, make them sound like silk purses, except silk is too fine a material to characterize this frankly macho singer with.
Peter Dawson was born in 1882 in Australia, and he died in 1961.

PETER: Dawson and Pacey, once the second-strongest relationship on the show, were at each other's throats once again, Joey still didn't know which one she wanted, Andie hadn't been seen or heard from for two entire years, the sole adult was suffering from a life-threatening illness, and all of them were virtually directionless.
PETER: Dawson's Creek has always had a personal connection with me. It started when I began high school, they graduated when I did, and they will be finished college when I do.

Singer songwriter Peter Dawson refuses to morph into what others have in mind, and his music benefits from such dedication.
Dawson's voice commands the attention of the entire room, gliding effortlessly between crooning and outright drawling, equally suited for the smoky honky-tonks of Texas or mainstream country radio.
So now Peter Dawson lives in Nashville, and each day, he's just a little bit closer to the break, a little bit closer to the best song he's ever written, and a little bit closer to his best performance yet.

Peter is every bit the teenaged firecracker, making the kind of observations that anyone who has ever been that age can relate to.
Peter's toughguy friends seem to sense that something is going on with him (or maybe he's just imagining that they do?), and his attempts to cope with all the confusion lead Peter into some awkward encounters with girls.
