Issue:--Corson or Cornelius Vroom of the Raritan, bp.
His brothers Cornelius Corsen Vroom and Peter Corsen Vroom dropped the name of Vroom and retained the surname of Corsen, and their descendants are numerous on Long Island and in New Jersey.
Peter Dumont Vroom, junior, the third son, was born at the old Homestead on the Raritan on the twelfth day of December, 1791.

Peter Vroom was the son of Hendrick Corsen Vroom (baptized May 7, 1683 and died between October 16, 1756 (date will was written) and prior to July 3, 1769 (date will was proved) and Jannetje Hansen Bergen (baptized May 27, 1688 of Brooklyn died prior 1745).
Peter was the eighth born of nine children.
A Peter Dumont (baptized April 20, 1679 and died in 1744) moved to New Jersey and was living on the Raritan River in 1699.

His son, Peter Dulnont Vroom, soldier, born in Trenton, New Jersey, 18 April, 1842, was graduated at Rensselaer polytechnic institute, Troy, New York, in 1862.
He served in the civil war, being wounded at South Mountain, was promoted major of the 2d New Jersey cavalry in 1863, and brevetted lieutenant-colonel and colonel of volunteers for meritorious services during the war.
Vroom possesses one of the finest libraries in New Jersey, and is an authority on questions of national and state political history.

This thoroughfare bears the name of Peter Cooper, of New York, who established a rolling mill in Trenton, and who was later one of the owners of the Trenton Iron Works.
The name of Stockton has long been distinguished in the annals of the country in peace and war, and the naming of the street serves as a lasting memorial to that noted family.
This thoroughfare, probably named for Peter Stuyvesant, the last and most worthy of the Dutch directors of the colony of New Amsterdam, now New York, was dedicated and accepted by the city by ordinance passed September 1, 1885.

When father Hendrick Vroom died he willed the plantations on which his sons lived to them in their own right.
A thumbnail biography on her stepson Pieter Dumont Vroom, a Revolutionary War colonel and politician, says "in his early life he lived in the city of New York" before returning to New Jersey.
In any case, they returned to and settled in New Jersey and eventually joined the revolutionary cause, further suggesting that they had little or no contact with Sara and Jannetje, whose intimate connection with the Ditmars family brought them into the sphere of Loyalism.

 Garret Dorset Wall
During the decades he spent in the city, Wall played a central role in molding the local Democratic party, and was instrumental in establishing the short-lived Burlington College.
Garret Wall's son, James Walter Wall, followed in his father's political footsteps, and his daughter Matilda married Peter Dumont Vroom, governor of New Jersey between 1829 and 1836.
Wall Street in Burlington was named in honor of the family's contributions to the City.
