  Peter Gabriel Albums & Lyrics @ SongLyricsLibrary.com
From 1967-1975 Peter Gabriel was part of this Genesis progressive song writing collaboration with songs ranging from classical and mythological themes to the humorous and absurd.
From then on, Peter Gabriel has been a world explorer (and creator) of rhythms and sounds, an innovative musician often mixing today's newest technologies with the world's oldest instruments, and a catalyst for bringing more "World Music" musicians to a world wide audience.
One of the most frequently asked questions about Peter Gabriel's music is "What is the meaning of the lyrics...where did he get the idea for this song?" We thought it would be fun to put together a list of quotes from Peter Gabriel with his 'perspective' on what is behind his lyrics.

Gabriel's third album is generally credited as the first LP to use the now-famous "gated drum" sound, invented by engineer Hugh Padgham and Gabriel's old Genesis band-mate Phil Collins.
Gabriel toured extensively for each of his albums, continuing the dramatic shows he began with Genesis, often involving elaborate stage props and acrobatics which had him suspended from gantries, distorting his face with fresnel lenses and mirrors, and wearing unusual makeup.
Gabriel is known for choosing top-flight collaborators, from co-producers such as Ezrin, Fripp, Lillywhite, and Lanois to musicians such as L.

Gabriel explores many themes on this album, from people who enjoy breaking into homes ("Intruder") to people who need attention and go to extremes to get it ("Family Snapshot") to the relationship between sex and war ("Games Without Frontiers") to alienation ("Not One of Us") to the final political protest song against apartheid ("Biko").
Gabriel embraces them, honors them while also giving them his own stamp, and the end result is one of the most beautiful, poignant songs of his career.
While Gabriel would go on to prove his expertise as a pop artist during the 80s, nothing else he would do for the rest of his career would measure up to the richness he displays on this album.

The name Genesis became a fact after Peter's departure as the band continually mutated into the bland Phil Collins vehicle that it had become.

Peter Gabriel was my first musical obsession and the only artist to whom I've ever written a fan letter (don't ask what I wrote; I've suppressed the memory).
Peter Gabriel III has a clean, lean sound that enhances the songs, which are varied and curiously timeless to me. Passion is very different from much of Gabriel's other work (an exception is his other soundtrack album, Birdy).
Certainly there is an unusual approach to chording and an emphasis on consistent rhythm (Peter Buck could barely play the guitar at the time).
