Civilian Occupation: Peter is a newspaper photographer for the Daily Bugle; he uses a specially timed camera to snap pictures of Spider-Man's crime-fighting exploits.
Peter also invented two devices to complement his powers—mechanical, wrist-mounted webshooters, which shoot a sticky "webbing" compound, and "spider-tracers"—small, bug-like electronic devices that enable him to secretly follow opponents to their lairs.

 Amazing Spider-Man Masterworks Vol. 1
What really set this comic apart from the others, and what allowed it to blossom from such humble beginnings,is the sense of humanity Stan and Steve poured into Peter Parker.
In Peter Parker, Stan and Steve made the "thought bubble" almost Shakespearean instature, as that is where the real story is being told: Peter Parker is constantly in doubt, working things outin his mind and trying to do the right thing.
And Stan and Steve develop the "Spider Sense," the unique ability that lets ol' webhead know of danger that lurks under every manhole, down every alley, and up every rooftop.

 Inside Pulse v2 .::. Spectacular Spider-Man #27 Review
Save for the recent (and best forgotten) 'Sins Remembered' story-line, Spectacular Spider-Man and Peter Parker : Spider-Man before it have served as vehicle for Jenkins' personal take on Peter Parker and the people close to him in his life.
You find yourself caring deeply about the people in his best stories, whether it be Peter remembering trips to the baseball with Uncle Ben, or a sick young man watching a battle between Spider-Man and an old foe on a rooftop.
This final issue, more than anything, serves as a coda or epilogue to the time that Paul Jenkins and his artists have spent fooling around with the life of Peter Parker.

 Skip Westcott (Peter Parker foe)
Skip's fate following Peter's revelation is not revealed (Similarly, Judy vanishes from the main story.); one would presume that the Parkers at least spoke to Skip's mother about her son's crime, but the story rightly chooses to focus on not the perpetrators but the victims of child molestation and how they should react.
Skip is carefully portrayed as being several years older than the pre-teen Peter, perhaps to prevent any implication that Skip was a gay youth attracted to Peter as an equal; evidently Jim Salicrup felt that Aunt May and Uncle Ben would've been concerned from the outset about an adult man befriending their nephew.
Powers/Abilities: None, although Skip was intelligent enough to engage honor student Peter Parker in hours of discussion about "all of life's important problems."

 Comixfan Forums - SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #27 REVIEW
The man behind the mask is important but if the book was just called Peter Parker with him just being Peter it would not sell many copies.
When Peter Parker morphed into Spectacular, something was lost: paired with Humberto Ramos and a series of artists not very suitable to that kind of low key storytelling, the stories as a whole suffered as both writer and artist tried and often failed to adapt.
After a year’s worth of declining quality, including way too long in the Avengers Diassembled stable and an unfortunate arc by Samm Barnes and Scot Eaton, this issue, the last for both Jenkins and the series, represents a return to form and a fitting end for Jenkins’s involvement with the character.

The Superhero Hype! Boards - The Spider Man cartoons
Despite the limited animation and the fact that this series is meant for kids, "Spider-Man" (1967) also got a lot of things right: the character designs for Peter Parker (a combination of Ditko and Romita Sr.), J. Jonah Jameson, and most of the villains is straight of the comic books of the time.
The voices are a lot of fun (loved how Peter's voice would drop a few octaves when he'd change into Spider-Man), Spider-Man actually gets to throw punches (unlike his 90's counterpart), and the theme song is classic.
But some of the animation looked bizarre ("Thunderbirds" meets a Rankin/Bass "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" special by way of Pixar), there were hardly any classic villains, and MTV tried way too hard to "hip up" the characters to painfully obvious levels (chronic coffee drinking; Peter Parker looking and acting like a wised-up, cool hipster).

Spidey Kicks Butt - The Ultimate in Spider-Man Commentary
Originally the story was going to end with the birth of the baby and close the book on Peter Parker's Spider-Man career, since after all, he was the clone at the time.
In fact, in the back-up story to Webspinners #1, which was Peter and Gwen’s last night together before her death, his "soft, clean, dated" artwork perfectly captured the feel for what probably was the last night of whatever innocence Peter Parker had left, before his life was irrevocably altered.
None of the other spider writers at the time knew where he was going with that character either, and Tom DeFalco later finally brought the character to as logical a conclusion as possible and jettisoned him.

Peter Parker carries the scars of Gwen's death to this day, but with the death of the Green Goblin the "Spider-Man" comic had killed off its prime villain, something that as a general rule comic books try to avoid doing.
However Jenkins is also trying to make this more a contest between Norman Osborn and Peter Parker, which means it is more of a psychological duel for most of the story.
In this story, Peter Parker feels that he has hit bottom - his marriage to MJ is on the rocks, the death of Gwen Stacy still haunts him, and his life has turned out worse than he could ever have imagined.

 Review - Ultimate Spider-Man // PlayStation 2 /// Eurogamer
Ultimate Spider-Man has oodles of style though, and it seeps out of its greasy teenage pores most during the cut-scenes.
The story starts with a nerdy and deformed angst-ridden teen Peter Parker suffering an identity crisis and struggling to come to terms with who and what he is. Mary Jane, looking somewhat Kirsten, is fully aware of Peter Parker's arachnoid proclivities.
Unlike Spider-Man 2, the game doesn't attempt to follow any cinematic storyline, and is instead based on the Ultimate Spider-Man comic books.

 GameSpy: Ultimate Spider-Man Review
Thus "Ultimate Spider-Man" has Peter Parker as a 15-year-old high school kid juggling algebra tests, the Internet, and awkward first dates, while fighting super-powered criminals and living with the guilt that his best friend Eddie Brock has become the hideous Venom because of an experiment performed by his deceased father.
Unlike the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man, Peter Parker in USM is just a 15-year-old kid, pretty new to his powers and all this superhero jazz, and the animations really show that.
Ultimate Spider-Man is the closest a game's ever come to bringing a comic book to life -- if only the gameplay could match the visuals.
