Peter Schumann's exhibition, "U.S. Senate Reads an E-mail by the Late Rachel Corrie to Her Parents" is on view at the Julian Scott Memorial Gallery in the the Dibden Performing Arts Center at Johnson State College through Oct. 30.
Peter Schumann, the founder of Glover's Bread and Puppet Theater, has recreated the scene in a series of gripping, agit prop style images in a new exhibition, "U.S. Senate Reads an E-mail by the Late Rachel Corrie to her Parents" at Johnson State College.
Schumann says the reliefs were "rescued" from a series of figures made for a project called "the naked population." They are purposefully anonymous, lumpy constructs that are very human in their imperfection.

In 1998 a man was accidentally killed in a fight while camping overnight for the festival, and director Peter Schumann subsequently cancelled the festival.
After September 11, 2001 the Theater returned to New York with The Insurrection Mass with Funeral March for a Rotten Idea, a "non-religious service." The "Insurrection Masses" are a common format for the Bread and Puppet Theater, as are such "Funerals," though the rotten ideas change.
